Extreme Dry Skin Remedy

I have recently found the best products for dry skin.  I have extremely dry skin, actually I have eczema.  So every year in October my skin starts acting really funny.  My dermatologist told me if I lived in Florida I wouldn’t have any skin problems.  But I don’t, I live in Chicago where the weather is brutal on my skin 6 months out of the year.  If you go to a dermatologist for any dry skin issue they will give you a cortisone based cream.  It may clear up the problem, but it also thins out your skin.  My normal remedies were not working this year, which sent me on a search for something better.  Here is what I found.

81eBboMJcCL._SL1500_For my body I started using First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.  This stuff is like a miracle!  I had red dry flaky patches up and down both arms and across my chest and shoulders.  I would wake up at night to scratch my arms and legs because they were so dry and irritated.  After the first application I noticed an improvement in my skin, the itchiness was gone immediately.  I applied it _7668753morning and night, within 1 week my skin looked awesome.  It’s very rich and moisturizing, but not heavy or greasy.  It soaks right in and doesn’t leave any white residue on your clothing.  MUST HAVE for winter dryness!!!!!

For my face, the only thing I changed is in my nightly routine.  After I cleanse my skin I apply Fresh Seaberry Face Oil.  Several drops on my face and I softly massage it in, I even will apply it under my eyes.  This oil is so moisturizing and feels so amazing on my skin.  The smell of it makes me feel like I’m in a spa set in the middle of a flower garden.  It does not leave any greasy residue on my pillow case and it does not break me out.  I have been using this every night for 3 weeks and my skin has never looked so awesome.  My skin is glowy and even toned and baby soft.  You will definitely have to wash your face in the morning.  You can not apply make-up over top of this and wear it all day.  The results are amazing!  Another MUST HAVE!

Here are my 2 must haves for winter dryness.  The winter weather can be very harsh on skin, so take extra good care of your skin!  Keep yourself looking young forever!

  1. I LOVE the Ultra Repair Cream! It even helps my excema, which is amazing because I can never seem to find anything that really actually helps (besides this!). And I love Fresh’s skincare products but haven’t tried the seaberry oil yet! I will have to check it out!

    1. Hi Niki,
I really recommend giving the Seaberry Oil a try. For me, I get 10 times better results than just using Argan Oil. About 3 weeks after I started using it my friends starting telling me that my skin has never looked better. It really makes a difference!

    1. Hi Maria,
You can click the link or picture above and order on Amazon. You can also purchase at Sephora. I LOVE ordering everything thru Amazon. They always have the best price, free shipping, and I don’t have to leave the house!!

  2. Hi Rachel :)
I have a totally random question lol. I was wondering if you know any good products for filling pitted acne scars and a product that diminishes dark marks from acne laser treatments?

  3. Hi Rachel!
I am an avid follower of your sister Jaclyn. I know this blog entry was for people with Extremely dry skin, but I am in need of your expertise..what am I to use for really oily skin and sensitive skin!!??? I am currently looking for a good face wash and moisturizer. If you could reccomened anything that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much & happy holidays!!!!!

    1. I love the Fresh Soy face cleanser for any skin type. For oily skin I recommend an oil control moisturizer and a weekly clay mask. Since you have sensitive skin you won’t be able to get away with using less expensive products (sorry!). Go with a good brand, like LUSH, or anything carried at Sephora, a department store or spa. Ask the employees questions, that’s why they are there. They are trained for that specific product line. Look for anything for oily skin. And ask for samples!!! Anything that is liquid you can get a sample for it. Then try it out at home for 1-2 weeks before purchasing and committing to it.
Thanks for coming over from Jaclyn! Happy Holiday to you too :)

  4. Hi Rachel!

I have been following/watching Jaclyn’s youtube for years now and have been following her skin care recomendations since I have very dry sensitive skin. I get really flaky and bumpy texture around my chin and mouth. I have been using Purity cleanser (am+pm) with my Clarisonic (pm), Mario Badescu seaweed cleansing lotion (am+pm), Genifique serum (am+pm), Renergie eye cream (am+pm), Renergie cream for dry skin (am), Kiehl’s midnight recovery oil (pm), Mario Badescu caviar night cream(pm). Some of these things are recent changes to my routine which are the toner and the caviar night cream. I have been seeing some positive changes which is great. I did go ahead and purchase the fresh sea berry oil and body lotion duo based upon yours and jaclyn’s recommendation I’m waiting any day now to receive it in the mail. My main concern is my hands and feet are EXTREMELY dry which started this past july. I have never had a problem with this before in my 27 years of life. I have seen a dermatologist and was told it is eczema and i have gone through creams she has prescribed/ creams I think would work. I work at ULTA so I have access to many different products. I have had blood work done to see if there was a possible underlying problem and that came back great. The only thing I found that somewhat works is Neosporin Eczema essentials body cream. Do you know in your experiance and expertise anything that may work wonders for my hands and feet? and anything else in addition to the sea berry oil to help my face.

    Thank you so much!!

    1. Eczema is difficult to manage, especially in these drier months. For hands and feet I recommend Badger Balm, ‘for hard working hands’. It’s thicker than vaseline. I put it on my hands and feet at night before I go to bed. I will also use it as a ‘spot treat’ for extremely dry areas on my body.

      1. Thank you so much for your speedy response! I am happy to say that since i’ve received the Fresh Sea Berry oil on friday my face has been slowly improving with the dry flaky patches (it hasn’t even been a week yet!!). I have been thinking about switching my Lancome Genifique serum for the Josie Maran Argan Milk. I LOVE her Argan oil and have been mixing the sea berry and Argan together at night for the last few nights and my skin is loving it! Do you think using the milk will be beneficial?

        P.S.

Thank you so much for the recommendation!
The badger balm “hard working hands” has improved my hands a lot! my feet not so much but ill continue my search! :)

  5. Hello, I need some help! was wondering what you would recommend for skin that is very dry and breaks out mostly blackheads. I also produce a lot of oil during the day and when i wake up my nose and forehead are oily but still see dry flakes underneath! ugh! Any routines or products you could recommend would be great I also great really red easily but I think its mostly from the dryness!

    1. It sounds like you are using a product on your skin that is to harsh. Your skin is imbalanced. Try using a calm cleanser, one from Fresh or BioElements is great. And see what happens.
