LA Trip & Instagram Lately…

I just got home from an 8 day trip in LA with my mom and sister.  It was so much fun!  Non-stop busy (and exhausting), but TONS of fun!  We started off Sunday morning leaving for the airport at 5:00am EST (after going to bed at 2:00am).

We landed at LAX at 9:00am and went straight to breakfast and Rodeo Dr.  You can image how exhausted we were and how disgusting we looked!  LOL  But that never stops us from having fun!

Our week was spent in and out of meetings, spending time with friends and meeting new friends.

We were able to go to Anastasia Beverly Hills.  Their spa is amazing!  And Anastasia knows her brows!  Truly the brow Queen!  She used her tweezers, Brow Wiz in ‘soft brown’ and using Duo Angled brush to apply the Brow Powder Duo in ‘soft brown’.

And of course, it doesn’t matter how busy we are we always find time for some shopping.  When is LA…. check out the best places to shop and eat.  A little shopping at Chanel, then dinner at The Ivy.  Click here for these outfit details.

While we were in LA it was my mom’s birthday.  It was so nice for all of us to be together to celebrate with her.  She got her first designer bag (she totally deserves it!) and a sparkly birthday candle while we all sang to her.  Love you Momma!

The “secret lipstick” was complete towards the end of our trip and we got try it on.  All will be revealed by the end of the week :)

Saturday we went to BeautyCon.  That was the craziest mad house I have ever seen (not in a good way!).  I don’t see how it is legal to have that many bodies in such a small space, literally couldn’t move.  If you have any issues with claustrophobia or anxiety, don’t go!

I had so much fun in LA!  The only reason for me to leave was to get home to my family, who I missed soooo much!  We did so much driving all over LA, down to San Diego and everything in between.  Who knows, maybe some day I’ll be living there…

12 Skin Care Mistakes

  1. Wash your face every morning and night.  You must wash your face both morning and night!
  2. Neglecting your neck.  When I say “face” I am referring to the entire face and neck area.  Use the same skin care regimen on your neck that you use on your face.
  3. Wear sunscreen every day.  The sun has damaging effects on the skin.  To keep your skin looking young, protect it by wearing sunscreen.
  4. Wash your hands before you wash your face.  Where have your hands been and how many germs are on them?  Before ever touching your face wash your hands to not spread any germs.
  5. Wash your makeup brushes every 2 weeks.  Product, oil, germs and bacteria can get built up in your makeup brushes.  You don’t want to be spreading that all over your face.
  6. Wash your face before and after you work out.  You don’t want to work out and sweat with makeup on.  Neither do you want all that sweat sitting on your face for a long time.
  7. Use an eye cream every night starting at age 20.  The first place wrinkles will show up is around the eye area and prevention is key.  You may look and feel young, but those nasty little wrinkles can show up by age 25.  So, eye cream, eye cream, eye cream.
  8. Exfoliate at least once a week.  It’s important to exfoliate the dead skin off, this will soften wrinkles and brighten skin.  If you have severe acne skin, consult with a doctor before exfoliating.
  9. Don’t over do it.  To many products can lead to a bad thing.  If your skin is red, dry, irritated, flaky… pull back the reigns on your regimen.  Try something more simple and see how your skin responds.
  10. Never ever pick!!!  Leave that zit and red bump alone!  Use an acne spot treat and let it run it’s course.
  11. Drink plenty of water.  When the skin is dehydrated it will appear dull and lifeless.  Staying hydrated is the secret to a glowing complexion.  Drink 10 glasses of water a day.  Keep in mind: if you drink coffee or alcohol you will need to drink more water to compensate for the dehydrating effects.
  12. Get enough sleep.  Our bodies and skin need adequate rest to perform at their highest ability.  I can give tons of skin care advice to you, but if you aren’t getting enough sleep those dark circles under your eyes and dull complexion won’t be able to be covered up forever.

Let me just tell you how obsessed I am with this jacket and pants!!  Both are so cute and comfortable!  Fall MUST HAVES!  I have already worn these pants several times paired with something different on top.  And I know they will continue to be the pair of pants I grab for all fall.  Both are great transition pieces to take you from summer to fall.

Yesterday was a busy day driving all over southern California for business meetings.  We were in the car for a total of 14 hours.  I fell asleep as soon as I got into bed.  I love being in LA, meeting tons of new people, hanging out with friends and working on a very secretive project (shhh!).  I am having so much fun, but I am so excited to get home and kiss my husband and my 2 babies.

Have a great weekend!

I am in LA right now with my sister, mom and a couple friends.  We spent the afternoon on Monday on Rodeo Dr.  It’s as every bit of amazing as you think it is!  Everything is so beautiful and glamorous.  Just walking around I felt fancy, especially since my mom let me carry her Chanel, aww!  We ate dinner at The Ivy.  The food was delicious!  I got the opportunity to visit Anastasia yesterday.  So much fun!  Anastasia herself helped me with my brows.   I still can’t believe it!  We will be here till Sunday and we have a lot more fun planned!

What’s in My Beauty Travel Bag

Last night I flew to Tampa to meet up with my sister and mom.  This morning we are off to LA.  With all of this flying it’s easy for my skin to get dehydrated and dull looking.  Of course I want to put my best face forward, so it’s important for me to keep my skin looking bright and glowing.  Here is what I bring with me:

Clarisonic Mia 2: With all of the traveling, wearing lots of makeup and having my skin exposed to different things; it’s important to make sure that I’m getting a deep clean every day.

Fresh Peony Brightening Night Treatment Mask:  This treatment mask is the easiest and fastest way to bring brightness back into the skin.  Apply at night before bed, wake up in the morning to brighter skin.  Easy Peasy!

Fresh Lotus Moisturizer: This moisturizer packs a big punch.  It feels light weight and wears beautifully under my makeup all day, but is extremely moisturizing.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser:  What else would I bring for a cleanser?  Of course Fresh soy face cleanser!!  Do I need to say anything more?

Jo Malone Perfume, ‘Nectarine Blossom & Honey’: How is it that when you sit on a plane, not moving, you some how smell bad by the time you get off?  It’s the weirdest thing.  Is it just me?  I always feel gross and not fresh at all.  I carry a little perfume with me so I can at least smell fresh to anyone I meet just after landing.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air: When I take an early morning flight like I did this morning (we left for the airport at 5:00am) I am not wearing any makeup on the flight.  I pull out this little beauty and spray my face every 20-30 minutes.  It keeps the moisture in and stops that sucked out look when I land.  “sucked out”, is that a word?  It means when my face looks like all the moisture and hydration has been sucked out.

Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream: This eye cream is amazing!  It lightens any dark circles under the eye and brightens everything up.  It even helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Having lack of sleep and a non stop busy day?  Use this eye cream and Fresh peony brightening mask and your skin will not show it.

MAC Prep & Prime Highlighter:  Even with all of the brightening skin care I’m using, I still use my highlighting primer under eye.  This will brighten up the face in a natural looking, glowing from within way.  This can be used any where on the face you want highlighted.  Apply first before concealer and foundation.  I use this in shade ‘radiant rose’.

Fresh Seaberry Oil:  When I am gone for several days I will alternate using this seaberry oil and the fresh peony brightening mask.  I want to be bright, but I also need to be moisturized.  This oil is ah-mazing!!!  It hydrates the skin, creating a natural dewy look; it also helps to even out the complexion and makes the skin so soft.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray: When I’m traveling I usually have very long days.  I put my makeup on in the morning and it has to last all day and into the night.  This would not be possible without this makeup setting spray.  Without it my makeup will show creasing within a few hours.  With this spray I don’t see creasing for at least 8-10 hours, some times longer.  Think of this as hair spray for your face.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation:  Continuing with all things that look naturally glowing, this foundation is the best!!  It is a medium to full coverage, lightweight and looks better as the day goes on.  How can a foundation be full coverage yet look like natural glowing skin?  Well, Giorgio figured it out!

Becca Highlight, ‘Opal’:  A great highlight will finish off the makeup look and give an amazing glowing look.  Any time the face is glowing you look fresh and well rested.  This highlight gives a glowing, angelic look.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream:  As some of you know, I have eczema and bringing a good body moisturizer is very important for me.  This one is amazing.  It is extremely moisturizing and never sticky or thick feeling.  Works great for normal/dry skin to skin issues.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish:  I still exfoliate 2-3 times a week no matter where I am.  This one is gentle and more moisturizing than what I typically use at home, which makes it great for travel.

Water, Water, Water:  Drink TONS of water!!!  There is nothing more dehydrating than flying.  I buy a huge bottle of water as soon as I get thru security.  If I need more on the flight I will ask the flight attendant to give me the bottle.  Seriously, that tiny little cup is for a cocktail, not for someone who is serious about hydration :)
