Fight Oily Summer Skin

Oily skin and makeup dripping down your neck is something we all fear in the summer.  Whether you have dry or naturally oily skin, we all have to adjust our skin care for the summer heat.  Here are some tips on how to take care of your skin this summer.  I want you to enjoy healthy glowing skin all summer long!

Cleanse: You may need to switch up what you use to wash your face.  Use something with salicylic acid in it, this will absorb excess oil on the skin without drying you out.  And, make sure you are washing twice a day; morning and night!

Sunscreen: It’s important to protect your skin all summer long.  By using sunscreen you can get a healthy sun kissed glow without damaging your skin.  Always use at least SPF 30 or higher on your face.  Use a sunscreen that is oil-free to avoid getting clogged pores or having that greasy sunscreen feel.  If you are extremely oily, skip your moisturizer on days you are out in the sun all day and just apply sunscreen.

Exfoliate: Make sure you are exfoliating 1-3 times a week.  This will get rid of all the dead skin and keep your skin glowing and healthy.

Mask: Use a mask 2-4 times a month to soak up any excess oil on the skin.  Use any clay based mask to soak up oil and smooth out your complexion.  Don’t over do it, if you mask to often you will dry out your skin and that will increase oil production.

Moisturize: It’s time to lighten up your moisturizer, but do not forget it all together.  Go with an oil-free moisturizer and apply only to your cheeks.  If you feel you need more moisture in the t-zone area (forehead, nose, chin), apply your moisturizer all over the face at night time only.

Eye Cream:  Do not forget about your eye area.  It’s summer and it’s hot and sticky, but it’s also a time that your skin can be dehydrated.  Wear big sunglasses to protect your eyes and apply eye cream at night before bed.

Spray/Primer: Applying a primer before your foundation or a spray on top of your foundation can really help hold everything in place.  These products will absorb the oil and keep your makeup from sliding down throughout the day.

Blotting Paper: Even with all of these steps, we can still get oily mid day.  Don’t apply more powder on top of everything you have going on.  Applying multiple layers throughout the day will just encourage clogged pores.  Instead, use blotting paper.  Gently press the paper on your skin and it will absorb any shininess.

GlamGlow PowerMud Dual Cleanse Treatment: This is a brand new product and it looks like a miracle for anyone with normal, oily, combination, or acne skin.  Just reading what it does got me excited!!!  It is a deep cleanser, to be used once a week, that gently gets deep down into the pores and cleans out any buildup of oil, dirt, makeup while leaving your skin clean and velvety.  Yeah, it sounds amazing!!!!!!

Water: With all of the heat and sweating our bodies do during the summer it’s easy to get dehydrated.  Make sure to drink up plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated!

  1. What do you think about Murads other products that go along with the clarifying cleanser?
