Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree

I’ve always wanted my house to feel like it’s bursting with Christmas joy.  Every year I try my hardest but it falls short of amazing.  I’m not very talented in home decor and all the details that takes something simple and makes it gorgeous.

BUT… my Mom is!!!  She is in a small percentage of people who has vision and is able to make anything look beautiful.  I have no idea how she does it!  When she came into town I asked her to help me with my tree.  She kindly put my existing ornaments on my tree and told me it looked pretty.  I know that means it actually doesn’t look good at all and she is being very nice.

So I told her I want to scrap everything and start over.  And she was in charge, she can do whatever she wants to make my tree beautiful.  We went to Hobby Lobby and Crate & Barrel.  I walked around with a shopping cart as my Mom and sister threw stuff in that I needed.

For the Hostess

for the hostess

Party season is upon us and I never show up empty handed to a party.  My typical thing to bring is a bottle of wine.  But isn’t everyone’s?  I decided this year I want to step up my game and bring something more special, something that the hostess will enjoy longer.  Throwing a party takes a lot of work and I want to show her that I really appreciate it.

I picked out some items I’m really excited about for anyone who likes to host a party from Nordstrom’s Wit & Wonder store.  They have the cutest gifts ever!  If you have someone on your shopping list that you have no idea what to get them, you will probably find it there.  Is it too early to think about Holiday shopping?  I haven’t purchased any gifts yet, but I am already thinking about what I want to get for everyone :)

Thank you Nordstrom for collaborating with me on this post

I Buy Everything I Can On Amazon

It’s been a week since I’ve posted, and it’s been a looooong crazy week!  It started off with a trip to the ER (everyone is ok).  Then everyone in the family got sick all at the same time with a high fever cold/flu bug.  John and I got better in a couple of days.  Then the week ended with a visit to the doctor to find out Caleb has an ear infection and Sofia has pneumonia.  I am so happy last week is over and I’m starting a new week.

I normally do most of my shopping online.  With me being stuck inside all of last week, I really learned just how much I love shopping online.  Especially on Amazon!  They make shopping so easy and convenient and they always have the lowest price!!!  Even if their price is the same, you don’t pay tax so it’s actually cheaper.  I don’t have to leave the house and it’s delivered to me in 2 days.  Seriously amazing!!

So why do they have the lowest prices and why do the prices fluctuate?  After one phone call to them I found out all the answers.  They have thousands of retails, stores and individuals they get their products from.  With the volume of inventory they sell, it demands a competitive price.  Then they always sell the lowest price first.

Tips & Tricks #3

  1. sunglassesSprinkle some cinnamon or cocoa powder in your coffee grounds before brewing.  It gives you a wonderful flavor experience.
  2. For a quick, easy exfoliant use a scoop of sugar.  Keep a jar of sugar in the shower and sprinkle some into your hand and rub it on your face and body.  It will gently exfoliant and dissolve in the warm water.
  3. To help reduce over eating at a meal, drink a large glass of water before eating.
  4. The dryer wears out your clothes faster than anything.  Hang dry any clothing that you want to stay looking new.
  5. When time is limited, put on sunglasses and pretty lipstick.  You will look glamorous in 2 minutes.
